About Dr. Howard
Dr. Steven Howard graduated cum laude from Brandeis University with a BA degree in biology. He received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. Dr. Howard's family medicine internship and residency were at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, NY-affiliated with Stony Brook University. Prior to joining Downtown Medical Group, Dr. Howard was a solo family doctor in San Carlos for 25 years and also worked for the Palo Alto Clinic and Dignity Health. His lovely wife, Diane, and Dr. Howard reside in Redwood City where she is on the City Council and is a two-time former mayor. Dr. Howard enjoys good friends, good food, good wine, and bad golf. His philosophy of care is that medicine is not about computers and algorithms but about understanding the individual's medical and psychological needs. He strives to guide the patient through the medical system to provide them with the highest quality and most appropriate care possible. Dr. Howard enjoys treating entire families, as the family dynamics often provide insight into one of the family member's medical issues. Dr. Howard is always honored when an individual entrusts him with their medical care.
